Why I drive.

“And suddenly I realised that I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension.”  -Ayrton Senna

People drive for different reasons. Some, to get from point A to point B. Some, because it’s a necessity to them.

Me, I drive because I love it. It’s nothing for me to get out at 10pm and drive the back roads for no reason. I do it because I love the feeling of being behind the wheel.

No music.

No phone notifications.

No talking.

Just listening to the rpm of the engine as it hustles along down the road.

No matter if i’m driving the BMW or my trusty Maxima, I love seeing how far the limits are. Driving shouldn’t be about getting from one point to another, it’s should be about HOW someone gets there and what feeling they have resulting from that drive. Happy, fearful, sad, mad, it does not matter.

Straightaway (breathe)…floor it…hard right coming up (45mph)…downshift and take it at 60mph (kick the tail out and correct), continue and push the car until I am happy. It’s the events like that that make me love to drive. Know your vehicle and encourage yourself to push the limits and break your fear of the unknown.

Driving is a drug to me, a drug which no one will ever be able to take away, outlaw, make illegal, or ration.

I am not alone, they are many more like me.

We are here, to drive.
